Remarkable Radian
Redefining Urban Living in San Diego
In the heart of the East Village, where the past meets the present, Radian stands as a beacon of innovation and collaboration. Along with meticulous historical preservation, our team of civil engineers and land development experts designed creative solutions for the unique sewer and water infrastructure challenges posed by such a tight urban footprint — while meeting all scheduling deadlines.
Small Urban Footprint
0.7 Acres in East Village
Located on the intersection of 9th and G in San Diego’s East Village, Radian was constructed upon the 0.7 acre footprint of the former Farkas Fixtures building. Due to the existing conditions and surrounding structures, maximizing buildable square footage of the site was of the utmost importance.
Unique Solutions
Inspired by Full Circle Thinking®
Due to the zero-setback condition, the team coordinated to design and deliver a proprietary biofiltration system and retention planters internal to the building, satisfying city requirements for Low Impact Development and maximizing buildable square footage of the site.

Historical Preservation
Past Meets Present
The Farkas Fixture building was historically the Pacific Telephone Company’s truck and equipment garage. The team worked closely with the Historic Resources Board and Save Our Heritage to allow for a vertical separation rather than a horizontal separation between the old and new façade of the tower – the first of its kind in Downtown San Diego.
Team Coordination
A Collaborative Triumph
Outstanding team coordination throughout design and construction satisfied both the city inspectors and the issues the contractors were facing in the field. Because of our team’s responsiveness, significant scheduling and cost impacts were avoided.
