Abbott Construction for Los Angeles County Departments of Public Works & Mental Health
One of the first Restorative Care Villages to be completed by LA County, designed as a solution to stop the cycle of homelessness, offering immediate help for those in crisis to embark on a path of long-term healing.
Fuscoe was involved in the first 2 phases of the Center’s initial redevelopment, both designed by SWA Architects. Both packages included construction of a Crisis Residential Treatment Program (CRTP), Recuperative Care Center (RCC), Psychiatric Urgent Care Center (PUCC), Mental Health Wellness Center (MHWC), parking and landscaped areas. Fuscoe’s tasks included field survey, grading and drainage plans; storm drain, sewer, domestic water and fire water plans; hydrology analysis and low impact development (LID) design; permit processing support, including Army Corps of Engineers; and construction administration services. The two Design-Build projects consisted of eight buildings, five of which were modular. Design, permitting, and construction was completed over the course of two years and finished within budget, 10 days ahead of schedule. The project is also the first public modular project to achieve LEED® Gold Certification.
