The Groves:
Detention Vault and Modular Wetland Structure
Client: Brookfield Residential
Backbone Infrastructure and Modular Wetland
Well it’s been a long time coming for The Groves (previously known as Fred C. Nelles Correctional Facility)! Backbone infrastructure is nearly complete. Our residential team, led by Trevor Dodson is continuing work on the housing component of the project.
Our team started entitlement in 2014. A couple of weeks ago, some of our team members went out for a precise grade certification walk for five of the parks on the site (one park is still in construction). One of the passive parks houses the site’s water quality treatment unit, a 85’W x 105’L Modular Wetland Structure (MWS). Thirteen feet’ below the MWS is a 157,088 CF detention storage vault. This vault was 30’+ below the existing ground and required temporary shoring on three sides in order to construct it. A pump was also required to pump storm water from the detention vault up to the MWS. A lot of work went into the design and construction of the detention vault and modular wetland.
“A big thank you and congratulations on a job well done for our team! It was rewarding to see the end results after seven years of work.”
